What to eat in Japan
Tokyo Ginza: Shabusen 10/10
The set menu was around £30/person. You can either order hotpot or beef sukiyaki. I tried both and recommend the Wagyu beef sukiyaki, it was the best meal I ate in Japan.
Tokyo Roppongi: Yelo 6/10
Shaved ice cream is a popular desert in japan. I tried both the matcha and mango flavours, it was refreshing however it wasn’t particularly tasty.
Various Japan Locations: Matcha House 9/10
This is a chain, you can find Matcha House in multiple locations such as Tokyo as well as Kyoto. If you like tiramisu this is the perfect place to try a matcha (green) and green tea (brown) tiramisu. Both were equally delicious, the matcha taste is not too overpowering and I found the green tea flavour was stronger than the matcha.
Tokyo Ginza: Ken's Coffee Shop 9/10
When we visited this place seemed to be mainly frequented by locals. I had the cutest coffee of my life.
Various Japan Locations: Dashi Chadzuke (8/10)
This is a chain. They serve rapid and healthy food.
Various Japan Locations: Yakiniku Like (9/10)
This is a chain. Rapid Japanese grill, very good value and tasty, this is the place I returned to the most whilst in Japan. They have mainly single tables with your own grill and digital screen to order (menu is available in english).
Tokyo Roppongi: Verve (10/10)
Tastiest coffee I ever had. The Valencia Latte is my favourite. With a mango waffle in the morning it made a delicious breakfast.
Tokyo Roppongi: Meat Man (8/10)
Delicious fries and skewers
Various Japan Locations: ChaoChao Gyoza 7/10
Very famous spot for gyoza, start queuing before opening or expect long queues.
Tokyo Asakusa: Ichiran 6/10
Another famous spot for traditional ramen. Nothing wrong with the dish, unfortunately I realised in Japan that I don’t like traditional ramen because they all have an intense pork broth. In Osaka they have an Ichiran branch where you can have different meats and broths.
